TASTING NOTES
The Alto Adige Doc Lagrein 2024 from Winzerberg represents an oenological excellence that fully reflects the character of the South Tyrol region. This native vine, which grows magnificently in the Bolzano basin and the Gries district, benefits from vineyards located approximately 300 meters above sea level. The notable temperature variations between day and night, together with the loose, sandy alluvial soils, give rise to a complex wine with intense colours. The climate of South Tyrol, characterised by a significant temperature range between day and night, combines sunny days with cool nights thanks to mountain winds. This thermal contrast allows the grapes to develop intense aromas while maintaining a lively acidity, an essential element for the balance and freshness of this wine. The 2024 vintage was challenging for winegrowers due to a cool and rainy spring that delayed ripening, followed by a hot summer and autumnal rains. However, thanks to the expertise of the South Tyrolean producers, the grapes have reached excellent quality, giving rise to delicate and fresh red wines. The grapes are harvested by hand and undergo soft pressing and fermentation in stainless steel tanks. In the glass, this Lagrein 2024 from Winzerberg presents an intense ruby red colour with violet reflections. On the nose, it is broad and energetic, with fruity hints of ripe cherries and blackberries, and floral notes. On the palate, it is full, soft and aromatic, with a typical cocoa finish. This wine pairs magnificently with red meat dishes, game and mature cheeses.
