TASTING NOTES
The Winzerberg's Alto Adige DOC Sauvignon 2024 represents an oenological excellence that fully reflects the character of the Alto Adige region. This mountainous region, with vineyards located between 500 and 700 metres above sea level, offers ideal conditions for the cultivation of Sauvignon. The calcareous and gravelly soils, typical of the area, contribute to a balanced growth of the vines. The climate of Alto Adige, characterised by a significant temperature range between day and night, combines sunny days with cool nights thanks to the mountain winds. This thermal contrast allows the grapes to develop intense aromas while maintaining a lively acidity, an essential element for the balance and freshness of this wine. The 2024 vintage was challenging for winegrowers due to a cool and rainy spring that delayed ripening, followed by a hot summer and autumnal rains. However, thanks to the expertise of the Alto Adige producers, the grapes reached excellent quality, giving rise to delicate and fresh white wines. The grapes are harvested by hand at full ripeness at the end of September and taken to the cellar for vinification. After careful selection and soft pressing, the wine undergoes alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. The wine is then left to mature in stainless steel tanks for about four months before being bottled. In the glass, this Winzerberg's Sauvignon 2024 has a bright straw-yellow colour with greenish reflections. On the nose, it presents vegetal notes of tomato leaves, nettle and sage, floral notes of acacia and elderflower, white peach and lime. On the palate, it is characterised by crisp acidity and a smooth and persistent flavour. This wine pairs well with asparagus-based dishes, light appetisers, cured meats, fish or seafood dishes.
