TASTING NOTES
The Nuragus di Cagliari DOC 2024 from Cantina Antonella Corda is a white wine that embodies Sardinian excellence, offering an authentic expression of the native Nuragus grape and the unique terroir of Serdiana, near Cagliari. This wine represents the perfect blend of tradition and innovation, reflecting the philosophy of Antonella Corda, a boutique winery that has successfully elevated local viticulture. The Serdiana area is characterised by a Mediterranean climate and calcareous-marl soils, ideal for cultivating Nuragus. The 2024 vintage promises to be noteworthy, thanks to balanced weather conditions that facilitated optimal grape ripening. The harvest, carried out exclusively by hand, took place in the first ten days of October, ensuring the selection of the finest clusters. Nuragus is one of Sardinia's oldest grape varieties, renowned for its ability to deliver freshness and savouriness. A late-ripening grape, it thrives in the region's mineral-rich soils, imparting a restrained yet elegant aromatic profile to the wine. In appearance, it presents a brilliant straw-yellow colour with greenish highlights that underscore its freshness. On the nose, delicate aromas of autumn fruits such as pear and apple emerge, accompanied by a subtle saline note reminiscent of the sea. On the palate, it is fresh and well-balanced, with pronounced savouriness and a pleasant persistence. Six months of maturation on the lees in stainless steel tanks contribute to its structure and refinement. The Nuragus di Cagliari DOC 2024 pairs perfectly with raw seafood, oysters, and fish-based dishes. It is also an excellent match for fresh cheeses and light appetisers. The recommended serving temperature is between 8 and 10°C. Cantina Antonella Corda was founded in 2010 by Antonella, an agronomist specialising in viticulture, who inherited her family's vineyards and transformed them into a centre of excellence. The winery operates using sustainable practices and has completed the organic conversion of its vineyards, emphasising respect for the land. A motto featured on its wine labels reads "Di madre in vigna" ("From mother to vineyard"), highlighting the profound bond between the land and its fruits. This wine is not only a tribute to Sardinian tradition but also an ideal choice for those seeking authenticity and elegance in their glass.
