TASTING NOTES
This Nuragus expresses the two souls of Sardinia, the land and the sea. Nuragus Antonella Corda comes from vineyards in the Serdiana countryside, on the gentle limestone-marly slopes that distinguish this area. Serdiana's is a unique terroir: mineral-rich white limestone soils and a temperate, Mediterranean climate that is very breezy. In Serdiana, the 2022 vintage was characterized by a first half of the year with little rainfall and, fortunately, no frost. The summer was hot with sporadic rainfall. Fortunately, the plants were able to benefit from the strong water reserves accumulated during the previous autumn, which instead was generous with rainfall and, until July, showed little drought. The health of the plants can certainly be considered positive also thanks to the high temperatures that, starting in mid-May, stopped the first outbreaks of downy mildew and a few sporadic cases of powdery mildew. This led to an abundant, slightly early harvest with very healthy grapes. Nuragus is a late cultivar and this 2022 was harvested by hand in boxes in the first half of October. A soft, vital straw yellow, this is a fruity and perfumed white, with lemon blossom, guava, green apple and honeydew melon on the nose. It is medium-bodied, with crisp acidity and a citrusy finish. It is a fresh and balanced wine that has a characteristic savoriness, a result of the particular terroir. It pairs well with fish crudités, especially oysters. In July 2021 the winery completed the conversion process to organic and is therefore certified.
