TASTING NOTES
If you are looking for an authentic and organic Chianti Classico that truly represents the prestigious Panzano area, the Cafaggio Chianti Classico 2022 is the perfect choice. This wine is ideal for lovers of Tuscan wines and for those who value both quality and sustainability. It captures the full charm of pure Sangiovese, expressing the unique terroir of the Conca d’Oro. The 2022 vintage in Tuscany stood out thanks to warm weather balanced by well-distributed rainfall, which combined to produce wines with intense flavours, clear fruit character, and remarkable freshness. The tannins are elegant and well-integrated, while the characteristic acidity of Sangiovese keeps the wine lively, promising an interesting journey of development in the bottle. Panzano, a distinguished village situated in the heart of Chianti Classico, is famous for its galestro and alberese-rich soils. These conditions, along with the altitude and microclimate, encourage a slow ripening of the grapes. This results in wines that are highly expressive, fresh, and aromatically complex. Here, Sangiovese is grown according to organic farming principles, finding the ideal conditions to reach its full potential. The wine showcases intense red fruit aromas, unmistakable freshness, and a distinct mineral note typical of the local terroir. In the glass, it appears as a bright, medium-intensity ruby red—classic for Sangiovese. On the nose, rich and elegant aromas of ripe cherry take centre stage, conveyed with clarity and without any overpowering sweetness. The palate is juicy and engaging, dominated by fresh cherry, vibrant acidity, and firm yet perfectly integrated tannins. The overall balance and elegance make this wine enjoyable immediately, with the potential for further ageing as well. Cafaggio is a pioneer in organic viticulture within Panzano, located in the historic Conca d’Oro, an area long recognised for producing superior quality wines. The estate is distinguished by its artisanal selection of grape clusters and meticulous care throughout every stage of production. This dedication has made Cafaggio a true reference point for those seeking authenticity and respect for tradition. The 2022 vintage has received widespread acclaim from critics, who praise its freshness, typicity, and approachability. Among the best expressions of that year, the Cafaggio Chianti Classico stands out for its refined and elegant style. This wine pairs beautifully with Tuscan cuisine, red meats, and richly flavoured dishes. It is equally suited to convivial evenings with friends or as part of a high-quality wine collection. With Cafaggio Chianti Classico 2022, you get a genuine, characterful wine that is always expressive and faithful to the identity of its terroir. For those interested, Cafaggio Chianti Classico 2022 is available online—offering quality, tradition, and a true taste of Panzano in every glass.

Cafaggio Discover Cafaggio in Tuscany and its fine wines in our online store The historic Cafaggio Estate, located in Panzano within the renowned Conca d'Oro area of Chianti, comprises 60 hectares of land. With a long history dating back to 1408, the estate has changed hands over the centuries. Currently owned by ISA S.p.A, a financial company based in Trento since 2016, Cafaggio is dedicated to being a distinguished producer of Chianti Classico wines. The estate comprises 30 hectares of vineyards, 3 hectares of olive groves, and the remaining land is covered with woodland. Previously belonging to various entities, including the Benedictine monks of Siena, the Niccolini family of Florence, and the Florentine Hospital of Santa Maria Nuova, the estate was later renovated and revitalised by the Boddi family in the 19th century and the Farkas family in the 1960s. During the Farkas family's tenure, the cellars were restored and the vineyards and olive groves were given meticulous attention. Cafaggio is committed to continuous improvement and the careful management of the entire production process.
