TASTING NOTES
Cimarelli Grizio Rosso Piceno DOC 2024 is a classic red wine from the Marche region, crafted from a cuvée consisting of 85% Montepulciano and 15% Sangiovese grapes. These grapes are sourced from vineyards situated in the rolling hills of Staffolo, in the heart of the Castelli di Jesi. This wine fully expresses the Marche’s territorial character, owing to its clay-limestone soils and the ideal microclimate of this hilly area at an altitude of approximately 380–400 metres above sea level. In the glass, Grizio presents a bright ruby red colour with violet reflections. The nose is rich and fresh, featuring intense aromas of red cherry, wild berries, and hints of Mediterranean aromatic herbs, complemented by subtle spicy nuances that add complexity. On the palate, it is dry, balanced, and smooth, supported by a pleasant acidity that provides freshness and makes it very easy to drink. It has medium body, gentle tannins, and an elegant, persistent finish. Winemaking involves controlled-temperature fermentation with indigenous yeasts, followed by around 9 months ageing in steel and cement tanks. This is succeeded by a minimum of 2 months’ bottle rest before release, which helps preserve the wine’s freshness and aromatic purity. The Grizio Rosso Piceno DOC 2024 pairs perfectly with traditional Marche first courses, white meats, and light grilled dishes, and naturally complements cured meats and moderately aged cheeses as well. Tenuta Cimarelli, led by Tommaso Aquilanti, is dedicated to sustainable viticulture, enhancing quality and local identity in every bottle. In summary, Cimarelli Grizio Rosso Piceno DOC 2024 is a fresh, balanced, and versatile red wine that genuinely expresses the Marche terroir, ideal for those seeking an authentic, enjoyable, and approachable red wine.
