TASTING NOTES
From the gently sloping hills on sandy-breccia soil grow the juicy grapes that make up Libenter 2018. An 'indigenous' Bordeaux blend based predominantly on Montepulciano, with a touch of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. The north-facing Montepulciano vineyards, and thus constantly cooled by the breeze coming off the Adriatic Sea, yield a full-bodied but also restrained and delicate red, the Sangiovese helps keep the acidity up and the Cabernet brings softness and silkiness. The grapes are harvested by hand, in small crates, and their selection takes place directly in the vineyard, leaving the less than perfect bunches. Fermentation is long and temperature-controlled and maceration is extended to 21 days. The wine is then aged in small barrels for 14 months and then in the bottle for a minimum of 6 months. Deep ruby red in colour, with garnet hues and rims, the nose is fruity and floral, reminiscent of wild berries with light vanilla notes. The taste is warm, opulent with important but soft tannins, it has a long persistence of taste and smell with balsamic notes. It is perfect with meats with mushrooms or truffles, braised and barbecued reds, succulent dishes.
