TASTING NOTES
Cimarelli Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore DOC 2024 is a white wine made from 100% Verdicchio grapes grown on medium-textured clay soils in the classic Staffolo area, at altitudes of about 380-400 metres above sea level. The vineyards, oriented northeast and trained using the double Guyot system, include the San Francesco and Coste plots in Staffolo. Harvest takes place in the first half of September with careful manual selection of grape bunches. After harvesting, the whole grapes are gently pressed, and the must undergoes static decantation followed by fermentation at controlled temperatures. The wine then ages for 8 months in stainless steel tanks and a minimum of 2 months in bottle before release, ensuring the preservation of freshness and structure. In the glass, this Verdicchio displays a bright straw yellow colour with subtle golden reflections. The bouquet is elegant and intense, revealing aromas of white peach, green apple, wildflowers, and fresh almond, accompanied by a delicate saline hint reflecting the hilly origin and unique vineyard exposure. The nose also reveals notes of star anise, flint, and a slight creaminess from lees ageing. On the palate, it is dry, harmonious, and tense with vibrant acidity and good sapidity supporting a long finish characterised by citrus sensations and light mineral notes. This wine offers a refined and authentic expression of its terroir, perfect for those seeking a fresh, structured white wine typical of the Castelli di Jesi region.
