TASTING NOTES
Misco 2023 from Tenuta di Tavignano is a white wine of remarkable character, an authentic expression of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC Classico Superiore. This wine is produced on the hills of Tavignano, in the Marche region, from a historic 4-hectare vineyard planted in 1992, situated on clay-limestone soils with a south-east exposure. The privileged location and soil composition impart to Misco exceptional elegance and aromatic complexity. For the 2023 vintage, the Verdicchio grapes are harvested exclusively by hand in multiple passes, selecting only fully ripe bunches. Depending on the climatic conditions of the year, careful cluster thinning is also carried out to ensure the highest quality of the harvest. Vinification involves fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature (never below 15°C), followed by 12 months ageing on fine lees without bâtonnage, always in steel, and at least 6 months further bottle ageing. This process allows the wine to develop an elegant structure and remarkable longevity. Verdicchio, the emblematic grape of the Marche, finds its ideal habitat in the Tavignano hills thanks to the south-east exposure and the clay and limestone-rich soils. Here, Verdicchio fully expresses its typicity, producing wines that are fresh, mineral-driven, and highly refined. Visually, Misco 2023 displays a bright, shiny straw-yellow colour of great elegance. On the nose, intense aromas emerge of ripe fruit, sweet almond, acacia flowers, star anise, and delicate citrus notes. On the palate, it is characterised by a long gustatory persistence, with pronounced savoury and mineral notes that provide depth and freshness. Misco 2023 from Tenuta di Tavignano is the ideal companion for seafood dishes, but it also pairs perfectly with medium-aged cheeses and white meats, enhancing traditional Mediterranean recipes. Tenuta di Tavignano stands out for its commitment to quality and the enhancement of its terroir. Each bottle of Misco is born from a careful selection of grapes and attentive agronomic practices that respect the environment and the typicity of Verdicchio. The name “Misco” recalls the ancient name of the Musone river, symbolising the deep connection between the wine and its land of origin. For those seeking an elegant, long-lived, and characterful Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC Classico Superiore, Misco 2023 from Tenuta di Tavignano is the perfect choice. A wine that tells the story of the Marche and the passion of a historic winery, ideal for lovers of authentic, high-quality wines.
