GEWURZTRAMINER GRAND CRU
Appellation d'origine contrôlée
GRAPE VARIETY
Gewurztraminer 100%
TASTING NOTES
The Gewürztraminer Grand Cru originates from the oldest (30 to 50 years old) estate vineyards on the hills surrounding the village of Bergheim. The soil here has a very pronounced mineral profile, as well as a geological variety that has developed in the course of natural phenomena throughout history. It is made exclusively from Gewürztraminer grapes that are harvested and selected entirely by hand at the beginning of October. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Endowed with a beautiful, brilliant straw yellow colour, it rotates in the glass with a beautiful consistency that heralds all the aromatic intensity that distinguishes it. Intriguing and decidedly elegant in its main profile, it alternates notes of boxwood, cut grass, coriander, marjoram and parsley. A few dried apricots describe the secondary scene and blend with jasmine and orange blossom. Full body, soft and enveloping structure and a finish of good density and warmth at the close. This wine is round, generous and assertive. Ideal for aperitifs, with foie gras, mature cheeses and desserts with exotic fruit. Perfect with spicy and sweet and sour dishes of Thai, Chinese and Indian cuisine. Perfect to drink for Christmas 2023

In Alsace, more precisely in the village of Bergheim, the Lorentz family has been involved in wine production for 250 years . In fact, in 1863 Charles Lorentz founded the winery moved by an incredible passion for the wine world. The vineyards are located on the hills of Altenberg de Bergheim and Kanzlerberg . It is thanks to a great passion handed down from generation to generation that the company still maintains very high quality levels today. According to the production philosophy, the essence of the wines is the result of the intimate and close relationship between vines, territory and climate. Currently the property includes 33 hectares and is entrusted to the sixth generation of the Lorentz family. Riesling , Pinot Grigio , Gewürztraminer and other varieties in the Altenberg hills express their typicality, year after year. The recognition for this perseverance took place in 1983, with the classification of these vineyards as " Gran Cru ".
