ALSACE

GRAPE VARIETY
Pinot Noir
TASTING NOTES
This wine is made from Pinot Noir grapes from the vineyards on the hills surrounding the picturesque village of Bergheim. Thanks to the altitude and good exposure, the 2021 vintage, which was very poor in quantity compared to previous ones, was saved from the frost and damage that heavy rains have brought in other areas, benefiting from the beautiful autumn days to reach full ripeness. The soil is rich in clay and limestone and gives finesse, elegance and balance to the wine. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks while maturation takes place in barriques for approximately 24 months. The colour is a beautiful, lively red. On the nose there are delicious aromas of red fruits including black cherry and morello cherry. In the mouth the attack is frank and fruity, delicate thanks to silky tannins. The skilful use of wood leads to a harmonious, rich and slightly spicy finish. It is the perfect companion for a range of especially summer dishes, from light cold and hot hors d'oeuvres, barbecues, red meats and furry game such as venison, cured meats, hard cheeses that are not too savoury or mature. It is also interesting in combination with red fruit clafoutis. As a reminder, Alsace is a French wine excellence, but it also holds the record for the country's greenest region. The numbers speak for themselves: 10% of the areas are treated with sexual confusion (a technique that eliminates the use of insecticides), 25% of the areas are BIO certified to which is added a further 50% undergoing Haute Valeur Environnementale level 3 certification.
