TASTING NOTES
La Ferme Du Mont La Truffière 2023 Côtes du Rhône Blanc is an AOP white wine crafted from a skilful blend of classic Southern Rhône grape varieties: Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Marsanne, Viognier, and Clairette. The vineyards, situated on calcareous gravel soils with cool, shaded slopes, feature vines aged between 35 and 55 years, enabling a balanced ripening of the grapes. The 2023 harvest was notable for picking grapes at varying stages of maturity, including a late harvest portion, to achieve a broad and complex aromatic profile. Fermentation occurs spontaneously at low temperatures to preserve the wine’s freshness and characteristic fruitiness, followed by approximately six months ageing on lees under controlled temperature. This process imparts remarkable depth and sensory complexity to La Truffière 2023. Visually, the wine displays a jade hue transitioning to a luminous golden blonde, inviting and refined. On the nose, it reveals a rich, intricate bouquet with delicate floral notes, pronounced limestone minerality, and aromas of yellow-fleshed fruits such as quince and peach, complemented by accents of acacia honey and bold spices. On the palate, La Truffière 2023 is rich and complex, offering a creamy softness balanced by lively freshness and a subtle mineral note that lends elegance and harmony to the tasting experience. Positioned among the great white wines of the Rhône Valley and Southern Burgundy, it combines finesse, balance, and character. The biodynamic viticulture practiced by La Ferme du Mont, which regards the vineyard as a living system, enhances the terroir’s authenticity and the purity of the fruit. An interesting fact about the winery: Stéphane Vedeau, founder of La Ferme du Mont, is a former footballer who turned to winemaking, quickly becoming a rising star in the Southern Rhône thanks to his innovative and nature-respecting approach. La Truffière 2023 pairs excellently with seafood dishes, carpaccios, grilled vegetables, and poultry, highlighting its freshness and flavour complexity. This vintage confirms the quality and elegance that have made La Truffière renowned, with an aromatic and gustatory profile sure to captivate enthusiasts of the Rhône’s finest white wines.
