TASTING NOTES
The 2021 grape harvest was characterised by a very warm March that brought forward the budding of the vines, which was abruptly interrupted by the April frost that hit the vineyards hard, especially in the southern area of Montalcino, causing a 15% drop in production. After the subsequent summer drought, the ripening of the vines returned to normal. In fact, the harvest of this Rosso di Montalcino Lo Scorno 2021 also began in the first ten days of October. The grapes were cold pre-macerated for two days at 10°C. Fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks was followed by maceration on the skins for about 10 days. Malolactic fermentation took place in steel, cement and wood vats. 10 months of ageing in barrique and 4 months in bottle give us a ruby red coloured wine; the nose is clean and intense. It is reminiscent of cherries in spirit, enriched by spicy notes. The palate has a good structure, full, balanced, with silky tannins. Good persistence that recalls the first olfactory notes.
