TASTING NOTES
Alcoholic fermentation occurs in stainless steel wine tanks maintained at a controlled temperature, allowing the skins to remain in contact with the must for an extended period. Malolactic fermentation follows alcoholic fermentation in November. Aging takes place for 6-7 months in wine tanks and 3 months in bottles. The 2022 harvest in La Morra and the Barolo region was marked by persistence and resilience. The harvest was distinguished by severe drought and an unprecedented early harvest date. The producers had to evaluate agronomic interventions carefully due to the mild and excessively dry winter. These included ensuring an adequate supply of organic matter in the soil and managing greenery in the vineyards for the protection of the grapes. Nebbiolo harvesting commenced in mid-September and reached its peak in the first week of October. The grape bunches were healthy and at optimal ripeness thanks to the drop in temperature and occurring temperature fluctuations in the second half of September. The production yield was optimal and well-balanced from a quantitative perspective, with visibly smaller berries than the previous year. These factors helped produce an important polyphenolic endowment, crucial for crafting well-structured and balanced wine that is sure to age well. It has an intense garnet red colour, the nose is full and fruity while the taste is full and harmonious, slightly dry with a lingering aftertaste.
