TASTING NOTES
The Pinot Gris Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim comes from the oldest vineyards (30 to 50 years old) of the property, located on the hills surrounding the village of Bergheim. The terrain consists of a very marked mineral profile, as well as a geological variety developed over the course of the natural phenomena of history. The grapes, once harvested by hand and pressed whole, undergo a very slow fermentation, thanks to indigenous yeasts, in large oak barrels. Following the maturation the aging of the wines takes place on the fine lees for 12 months in large oak barrels. At sight, the wine obtained is intense and bright golden yellow. On the nose, it is elegantly expressed on nuances of honey, ripe yellow fruit, flowers and aromatic herbs, with a strong mineral note. On the palate, the wine relaxes with wonderful structure and tension on notes of dried fruit, honey and wax. Suitable for pairing with foie gras, Pekingese lacquered duck, aged cheeses and exotic fruit. Great aging potential.

Gustave Lorentz Discover Cantina Gustave Lorentz in Alsace and its fine wines in our online store In Alsace, more precisely in the village of Bergheim, the Lorentz family has been involved in wine production for 250 years . In fact, in 1863 Charles Lorentz founded the winery moved by an incredible passion for the wine world. The vineyards are located on the hills of Altenberg de Bergheim and Kanzlerberg . It is thanks to a great passion handed down from generation to generation that the company still maintains very high quality levels today. According to the production philosophy, the essence of the wines is the result of the intimate and close relationship between vines, territory and climate. Currently the property includes 33 hectares and is entrusted to the sixth generation of the Lorentz family. Riesling , Pinot Grigio , Gewürztraminer and other varieties in the Altenberg hills express their typicality, year after year. The recognition for this perseverance took place in 1983, with the classification of these vineyards as " Gran Cru ".
