TASTING NOTES
2018 will be remembered as a truly happy harvest. Overall, the vegetative phase was constant and produced very balanced wines. The cool, rainy months of February and March postponed budding, and June and July proved to be perfect for the continuation of the season. The approach of hailstorms at the beginning of August made us hold our breath, but they always remained at least 1km away. In late August, the well-anticipated rains helped rehydrate and cool the vines. With warm days and cool nights throughout the remainder of August, optimal conditions for the harvest developed. The vintage is reminiscent of 2015 in fruit strength but 2013 in structure. The nose exudes ripe fruit and floral notes of violets and roses, with hints of cypress and cedar. The palate is lush and full, enveloping and full of fruit. Easy-going tannins, thanks also to a 10-month aging in French oak, and moderate acids allow the fruity flavors to contribute on the same level of importance, revealing layers of red fruit - cherry and plum with honeysuckle notes. A long finish leaves room for spicy and herbaceous notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and persistent black tea.
