TASTING NOTES
For more than three decades, Kendall-Jackson has been committed to producing only high-quality wines from grapes grown in California's coastal vineyards. Climates and soil types are carefully matched for each varietal, then each vineyard lot is kept separate throughout the winemaking process. This approach to winemaking has earned Kendall-Jackson a worldwide reputation as an excellent producer of wines that are consistently distinguished by rich, intense and very balanced flavors. Dynamic aromas of raspberry and spice from grapes grown in Mendocino County supported by the chalky tannins of grapes grown in Sonoma County are certainly the hallmark of this 2020 Zinfandel. In fact, the vines are very old, grown in gravelly soils rich in fractured rocks , causing the plants to develop important root systems that produce few clusters with great aromatic potential. Grapes from Mendocino and Sonoma Counties ferment separately and are aged for 7 months in American oak barrels, 9% of which are new woods. The final blend provides the right combination of flavors, aromas and complexity that differentiate these typical California terroirs. This dark, chocolatey wine is smooth and delicious, with flavors of blackberry and blueberry shaded by vanilla and cocoa. It is full-bodied and full in the mouth, with very soft tannins, so it is easy to sip.
