TASTING NOTES
The grapes selected for the Lunapigra 2020 wine are carefully hand-harvested between late August and early September. After a thorough evaluation in the vineyard, the grapes undergo a brief cold soak, followed by destemming and whole-berry fermentation in French oak barriques. This process takes place at low temperatures over an extended period, allowing the wine to develop complexity and depth. At the end of fermentation, the must is gently pressed, and the resulting wine returns to barriques for a 12-month aging period. Subsequently, the aging continues in large Slavonian oak casks for an additional 16 months before concluding with 10 months in bottle. In appearance, Lunapigra presents a captivating straw yellow color, embellished with golden reflections that evoke ancient gold. On the nose, the bouquet is rich and enveloping, with notes of well-ripened tropical fruit, such as pineapple and papaya, intertwining with delicate creamy nuances and yellow flowers like chamomile. On the palate, the wine reveals a full and round character, offering a persistent creaminess perfectly balanced by a lively salinity and citrus hints that enhance its freshness.
ORIGIN OF THE NAME
The name Lunapigra draws inspiration from a myth that tells the story of Luna, a young woman emerging from a crescent moon. Although her feminine forms are well-defined, she remains incomplete. Luna's laziness symbolizes a temporary phase of her development, adding a touch of mystery and charm to her tale.
