TASTING NOTES
Obizzo is a wine made from Vermentino grapes grown in Bolgheri (LI), a coastal area on the Tyrrhenian Sea with sandy and loamy soils. The harvest of Vermentino Obizzo in Bolgheri in 2023 was particularly favoured by optimal climatic conditions, with moderate temperatures and well-distributed rainfall contributing to an even ripening of the grapes, resulting in a high-quality harvest. The Vermentino grapes were harvested at the optimal ripeness stage, resulting in the production of fresh, aromatic and well-balanced wines. Overall, the Vermentino Bianco harvest in Bolgheri in 2023 was considered very positive and promises high-quality wines. The harvest takes place in September, when the grapes are fully ripe. The selected grapes are then taken to the cellar for vinification. After pressing, the must is statically decanted at a temperature of 10°C and fermented with selected yeasts at a temperature of 18-20°C. Once alcoholic fermentation is complete and racking has been carried out, the wine is left to mature for 5 months in stainless steel tanks before being bottled. The wine has a light straw yellow colour and the nose presents aromas of white flowers, lime curd, cream and barley. The wine is medium-bodied, with a creamy, structured palate and a round, smooth finish.
ORIGIN OF THE NAME Obizzo was a blond character in Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy.
