TASTING NOTES
The Toscana IGT Obizzo Vermentino 2024 by Donna Olimpia 1898 is a white wine that embodies the essence of the Tuscan Coast, a region renowned for its viticultural vocation and favourable climate for Vermentino cultivation. This grape variety, typical of the area, is distinguished by its ability to express freshness and complexity, characteristics that are fully reflected in this wine. The Obizzo Vermentino presents a brilliant straw-yellow hue with subtle greenish reflections, hinting at its vibrancy. On the nose, it opens with an intense and fresh bouquet dominated by citrus notes such as lemon and grapefruit, complemented by delicate floral nuances and a hint of aromatic herbs typical of the Tuscan terroir. On the palate, the wine reveals a balanced and harmonious structure, with a pronounced acidity that enhances its freshness and a minerality reminiscent of the sea, a distinctive element of the Tuscan Coast. The finish is persistent, with a citrusy return that invites another sip. The 2024 vintage was marked by favourable weather conditions, with warm summers tempered by sea breezes, allowing the grapes to mature slowly while maintaining excellent acidity and aromatic concentration. The harvest took place in September, when the grapes were fully ripe. The selected grapes were then transported to the winery for vinification. After pressing, the must was statically decanted at a temperature of 10°C and fermented with selected yeasts at 18-20°C. Once the alcoholic fermentation was complete and the racking was carried out, the wine was left to mature for five months in stainless steel tanks before bottling. This results in an exceptionally elegant and refined wine, perfect for pairing with fish dishes, salads, or fresh cheeses.
