TASTING NOTES
The Doolhof Chenin Blanc Single Vineyard Wellington 2024 is a premium South African white wine that perfectly expresses the unique character of the Wellington terroir, one of the most esteemed areas in the Western Cape. This Chenin Blanc comes from a single vineyard located on the banks of the Krommerivier River, imparting distinctive minerality and freshness to the wine. The 2024 vintage benefited from a balanced climate that allowed optimal ripening of the grapes. While Chenin Blanc originates from the Loire Valley, it has become deeply rooted in South Africa, where it develops a marked aromatic complexity. The bouquet features notes of white peach and dried apricot, enriched by subtle caramel nuances. In the glass, it shows a bright, clear straw-yellow colour that is inviting and lively. The nose reveals intense aromas of white fruit, complemented by a delicate mineral background and light spicy hints that evoke the freshness of the nearby river. On the palate, the wine is soft and harmonious, with a fine structure, vibrant acidity, and elegant persistence, creating a balanced and enjoyable experience. Doolhof’s 2024 Chenin Blanc pairs beautifully with fish dishes, shellfish, and white meats, but also stands well on its own for moments of pure enjoyment. Renowned for its artisanal approach and respect for terroir, the Doolhof estate crafts a wine that tells the story of Wellington in every sip. In summary, this Chenin Blanc is an excellent choice for those seeking a characterful, elegant, and versatile South African white wine that showcases the freshness and complexity of the grape variety alongside the distinctive influence of the Wellington terroir.

Doolhof Discover Doolhof in South Africa and its fine wines in our online store The Doolhof winery, located in the wine region of Wellington, South Africa, is a true paradise for wine lovers. Founded back in 1709, it combines history, tradition and innovation in a unique way. Thanks to an exceptional terroir and an ideal climate, it produces high-quality wines that authentically reflect its terroir. With a wide selection of varieties such as Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, Doolhof stands for excellence and passion in the production of world-class wines. The winery covers about 380 hectares, located in the picturesque valley below the Bains Kloof pass, 60 kilometres from Cape Town. Of this, eighty hectares are dedicated to the cultivation of vineyards, while the rest is preserved as a nature area. With a history dating back three centuries, Doolhof has been the pearl of the Bovlei valley and has had several owners over time. The first vines were planted in 1995, and in 2005 the winery was granted estate status. Currently, owner Dennis Verrison shares his passion for wine and cricket. Winemaker Frederick Kühne, with experience at renowned wineries such as Jordan Winery in California and Chateau Palmer in Margaux, joined Doolhof in 2008. The winery is also involved in the Biodiversity in Wine Initiative project for the conservation of fynbos, a typical vegetation of the area.
