Les Essentielles Pinot Noir 2023 from Les Vignerons de Mancey is an elegant red wine hailing from the renowned Mâconnais region in Burgundy, France. Les Vignerons de Mancey is a cooperative founded in 1929, bringing together around 50 local growers near Tournus and the Saône River. The area is characterised by gently rolling hills with vineyards that benefit from a rich and varied terroir, ideal for Pinot Noir as well as classic Burgundian varieties like Chardonnay, Aligoté, and Gamay. The 2023 vintage of Les Essentielles Pinot Noir is crafted from carefully selected low-yield parcels chosen to maximise the expression of both the terroir and the grape variety. Throughout the growing season, a committee of growers closely monitors vineyard management to ensure strict adherence to cultivation and harvest standards. Fermentation is carried out separately for each parcel, followed by attentive ageing that imparts structure and complexity to the wine. Visually, the wine shows a bright ruby red colour. The nose unfolds intense aromas of fresh red fruits such as cherry and strawberry, alongside delicate spicy notes and a subtle minerality typical of the Mâconnais soils. On the palate, aromatic finesse is confirmed, complemented by elegant tannic tension and good freshness, making this Pinot Noir balanced, refined, and possessing good ageing potential. Les Essentielles Pinot Noir 2023 pairs perfectly with French and international cuisine, including white meats, poultry, charcuterie, and medium-aged cheeses. Les Vignerons de Mancey was established in 1929 and is situated in the heart of the beautiful countryside, a few kilometres from Tournus and the Saône river. The wine cellar currently has around 80 winegrowers, with 140 hectares of vines spread over eight communes around Mancey, including meadows and forests. All Burgundy grape varieties, like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Aligoté e Gamay are vinified there. The Les Essentielles range of wines is produced in collaboration with Les Vignerons de Mancey's technical staff and winegrowers. This initiative, which began 12 years ago, aims to enhance the quality of wines from the regional appellation. Each winegrower declares the plots intended for Les Essentielles production, which are then verified by a special committee. The grapes are fermented separately and the wines refined in a specific manner. Les Essentielles represents a selection of high-quality wines resulting from the joint work of winegrowers and technical staff, who embody the commitment to producing exceptional wines.
