TASTING NOTES
Winter 2018 was very cold, with several days with the temperature below zero, which is absolutely rare in Bolgheri. A march marked by frequent rainy days restored the soil's water reserves, which has been drastically reduced by the previous season's drought. Germination took place slightly late, but the absolutely favorable climatic conditions from April onwards favored the growth, also leading to a slightly earlier flowering. The summer heat that characterizes the area lasted throughout the month of July and until the first half of August, when some rain finally lowered the temperatures. The good weather that lasted until the beginning of October guaranteed a balanced conclusion of the harvest which took place when the grapes were fully ripe, gradually, in the months of September and October. The grapes, selected in the vineyard, were brought to the cellar and vinified in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature, favoring the prolonged contact of the skins with the must. The malolactic fermentation takes place immediately after the alcoholic fermentation, also in the tanks. Aging is 24 months in French oak barrels (50% new, 50% one year) and 6 months in bottle. A serious red with a compact and fresh palate of blue fruit, berries and hints of toasted oak, smoke and chocolate. It is full-bodied with a tight palate and finely crafted tannins. An elegant Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
