TASTING NOTES
In South Tyrol, Pinot Grigio, depending on the area of cultivation, could be very different: sometimes powerfull, with fruity aromas of ripe apple, pear and quince, sometimes fresch with mineral notes and hints of fresh lime blossom. This is why it is a wine that always knows how to surprise and amaze. This Pinot Grigio is grown on the warm alluvial and gravelly soils of Renon, a small village in the province of Bolzano. In the subalpine climate of South Tyrol, Pinot Grigio develops its smoky aroma, its strong structure, its character and its charm. The winter of 2021 was very cold and characterized by heavy snow, while the spring was quite cool. Flowering coincided with mild temperatures and no rain, ensuring good fruit set. However, the number of acinus per grape was slightly below average and the grapes were smaller due to the rather dry June. The moderately hot summer ensured the healthy development of the fruit. The harvest began in September and took place very quickly thanks to the uniform ripening of the grapes. The carefully selected grapes were softly pressed and fermented in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The refinement also took place in steel tanks to preserve the freshness of the wine. In the glass this Pinot Grigio 2021 Winzerberg shows a brilliant straw yellow with golden yellow nuances. The nose is fruity, with marked accents of pear and apple while light nuances of honey and hazelnut make it warmer and more enveloping. In the mouth the sip is full-bodied, pleasant and rich in extracts. Suitable for mushroom dishes, tasty fish dishes, seafood or more typical South Tyrolean specialties.
