TASTING NOTES
The night cold of the first days of April, just during the budding of the vine, aroused some concern, which fortunately proved to be unfounded. The 2020 harvest was characterized by a fairly cool spring which was followed by a hot and long summer but with good temperature variations between day and night. The minimum temperatures were always mild both in July and August, allowing the optimal completion of the ripening process of the grapes. The vines did not suffer from water stress thanks to the refreshing rains of June and September. All these are the prerequisites for another excellent vintage of Chianti Classico, with great structure and great balance. This Chianti Classico 2020 has a great body in which fruity notes and fresh acidity predominate. The nose is rich in ripe fruit and floral notes of violet and rose, with sweet hints of cedar. On the palate it is full, enveloping and rich in notes of fruit and honeysuckle. The tannins are elegant and delicate as well as the acidity. A long finish leaves room for spicy and herbaceous notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and persistent black tea.

Tenuta di Arceno

Tenuta di Arceno Discover Tenuta di Arceno in Tuscany and its fine wines in our online store Tenuta di Arceno is located on the hills of Chianti Classico , precisely in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga. The estate was first owned by the Sienese Taja family and then passed to the Piccolomini, a historic Tuscan family that was very influential in Siena. In 1994 it was bought by Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke . From a clear Tuscan lineage, the wines of Tenuta di Arceno own a level of richness, concentration and character comparable to the best wines in the world. The 92 hectares of vineyards are located on rocky hills at an altitude between 300 and 560 above see level. The company has always cultivated the most famous native vine of Tuscany, Sangiovese , but also experimenting with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot . The oenological team, that consistt of two winemakers, Lawrence Cronin and Pierre Seillan , brought great sensitivity to the production of the six wines produced. On one hand we find the Chianti Classico wines, which express their best in the Gran Selezione Strada al Sasso . On the other hand, Bordeaux blended wines, such as il Fauno by Arcanum, Valadorna and Arcanum , made from Cabernet Franc and the Merlot.
