TASTING NOTES
Obizzo is a wine obtained from Vermentino grapes from vineyards located in Bolgheri (LI), located on the coastal strip of the Tyrrhenian Sea, lying on a sandy and loamy soil. The 2021 harvest was characterized by a very rainy winter. The frosts of early April ruined the first shoots but the vines reacted well and thanks to the stable and warm spring they recovered quickly. The summer was dry and well ventilated but with not excessive temperatures, except for a few short periods. The drought continued almost continuously from mid-May until harvest, as is common on this coast. The harvest takes place at full maturity in September. The grapes, selected in the vineyard, are then taken to the cellar to be vinified. After pressing, the must obtained is statically decanted at a temperature of 10 ° C and fermented with selected yeasts at a temperature of 18-20 ° C, once the alcoholic fermentation is completed and the racking has been carried out, the wine remains to refine sur lie for 5 months in stainless steel jars before bottling. Pale straw yellow in color, at the nose has aromas of white flowers, lime curd, cream and barley. It’s medium-bodied with a creamy, textured palate. Round and soft finish.
ORIGIN OF THE NAME Obizzo was a blond character in Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy.
