TASTING NOTES
The appellation Loiben implicates the vineyards of the villages Ober and Unterloiben at the eastern entry to the Wachau. Gently sloped facing the river Danube the soil is dominated by gravel mixed with some sandy sediments. At night, cool air from a side valley, the so called Menthalgraben is streaming down into the Loibner basin. This kind of terroir is resulting in very pure and vigorous wines showing high but ripe acidity. The vines are a littel bit younger compare tho all the others, on avarage 20 years. Harvest is by hand beginning of October and the fermentation and maturation takes 4-5 months in stainless steel. What is obtained is a right green-yellow wine, attractive stone fruits in the nose, nicely balanced, juicy with delicate acidity, good lenght and minerality. Start to drink it fom 2022

Pichler-Krutzler

Pichler-Krutzler Discover Cantina Pichler-Krutzler in the Wachau region and its fine wines in our online store In 2006 Elisabeth Pichler and Erich Krutzler founded their winery in the Wachau region. Both come from families belonging to the wine world, they have created together unique wines with a noble soul, based on respect for nature, through sustainable viticulture. Pichler-Krutzler wines reflect the territory from which they come. These are wines harvested, refined and bottled without any assembly. The vineyards, mainly Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, extend over stone terraces and can only be cultivated by hand. This is where a particular microclimate is created, influenced by the front, by the mild temperatures of Pannonia from the east by the cold winds that blow down from the valleys. The Wachau region, where these unique and quality wines are born, is in fact a real jewel recognized as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
