Tenuta di Arceno

Indicazione Geografica Tipica
51% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Franc, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot
The Arcanum faun is a Bordeaux blend that embodies the diversity of the estate. It comes mainly from the Arceno di Sotto, La Curva, Colombaio and San Giovanni blocks, located in the south-west part of the estate, in a lower and warmer subsection, well exposed and maturing early. The soils are predominantly clayey, with high water retention and produce wines that tend to be richer and more opulent. Some vintages are powerful like 2015, others structured like 2016, and still others like 2018 combine both of these qualities to create elegant yet powerful wines. A vegetative season in the seasonal norm, without extreme temperatures or inopportune rains, preceded the harvest, which with its warm days but cool nights allowed a perfect polyphenolic ripening of the grapes. The harvest began on September 10th and ended on October 10th ... a perfect timing. The nose shows many scents connected to the earth, but also hints of fruit, with aromas of nutmeg, cypress and roses. The entrance is soft, with delicate tannins but which fill the mouth with black cherry, candied apple and licorice. This thousand-layered blend has a long and spicy finish, with balsamic notes, with references of cloves and white pepper.

Tenuta di Arceno

Tenuta di Arceno Discover Tenuta di Arceno in Tuscany and its fine wines in our online store Tenuta di Arceno is located on the hills of Chianti Classico , precisely in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga. The estate was first owned by the Sienese Taja family and then passed to the Piccolomini, a historic Tuscan family that was very influential in Siena. In 1994 it was bought by Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke . From a clear Tuscan lineage, the wines of Tenuta di Arceno own a level of richness, concentration and character comparable to the best wines in the world. The 92 hectares of vineyards are located on rocky hills at an altitude between 300 and 560 above see level. The company has always cultivated the most famous native vine of Tuscany, Sangiovese , but also experimenting with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot . The oenological team, that consistt of two winemakers, Lawrence Cronin and Pierre Seillan , brought great sensitivity to the production of the six wines produced. On one hand we find the Chianti Classico wines, which express their best in the Gran Selezione Strada al Sasso . On the other hand, Bordeaux blended wines, such as il Fauno by Arcanum, Valadorna and Arcanum , made from Cabernet Franc and the Merlot.
