TASTING NOTES
The Chianti Classico Riserva comes from some south-facing and warmer vineyards. It is mainly produced from Sangiovese grapes and rests for a year in French oak barrels. Characteristics such as the dark color, the freshness of the fruity notes, in perfect balance with the tertiary aromas of the spices, and the power of the velvety and well-balanced tannins, make it a perfect example of Chianti Classico Riserva. The aromas of violet, plum, cherry, orange peel, undergrowth, licorice, cedar and tobacco are dominant. The 2019 season started late. The cold winter with abundant rains allowed the vines to rest, while the water reserves of the soil were regenerated. The cold lasted until spring and the rainy episodes in May represented a small challenge for flowering. Summer brought pleasant temperatures, higher in August, but always mitigated by strategic rains. Autumn was characterized by beautiful warm days and cool nights, which allowed a perfectly balanced ripening. The harvest began on September 14 with the Merlot and ended on October 23 with the Sangiovese. The 2019 Riserva is a riot of fruity aromas of ripe plum, floral notes of honeysuckle and earthy hints of undergrowth. On the palate it is velvety, full, enveloping and warm, rich in flavors of fruit and earth with dominant notes of red cherry, blueberry and dark chocolate. The finish is long and intriguing, showing the classic notes of orange peel with hints of cedar and tobacco. The lit acidity suggests that it will be able to refine for several years and that 2019 as well as 2018 will be considered a great vintage.
