Indicazione Geografica Tipica
41% Merlot 34% Cabernet Franc 20% Cabernet Sauvignon 5% Petit Verdot
The faun of Arcanum is a Bordeaux blend that embodies the diversity of the estate. It comes mainly from the Arceno di Sotto, La Curva, Colombaio and San Giovanni blocks, located in the south-west part of the estate, in a less elevated and warmer subsection that is well exposed and ripens early. The soils are predominantly clayey, with high water retention and produce wines that tend to be richer and more opulent. Some vintages are powerful like the 2015, others structured like the 2016, and still others like the 2018 combine both of these qualities to create wines that are elegant yet profoundly powerful. The year 2020 was a mild, dry winter, followed by abundant rainfall in the spring, which restored the water table to healthy levels. The summer was characterised by warm days and cool nights, which preserved acidity and aromas. The harvest began with the Merlot on 14 September and ended on 12 October with the last Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose reveals fresh, juicy aromas of strawberries and raspberries, with hints of mint. The palate is rich with flavours of ripe plums and bright cherries, as well as floral tones of rose and honeysuckle notes. Soft tannins are framed by lively acids. The finish is long and spicy with notes of nutmeg and black liquorice, followed by lingering white pepper and tobacco.

Tenuta di Arceno

Tenuta di Arceno Discover Tenuta di Arceno in Tuscany and its fine wines in our online store Tenuta di Arceno is located on the hills of Chianti Classico , precisely in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga. The estate was first owned by the Sienese Taja family and then passed to the Piccolomini, a historic Tuscan family that was very influential in Siena. In 1994 it was bought by Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke . From a clear Tuscan lineage, the wines of Tenuta di Arceno own a level of richness, concentration and character comparable to the best wines in the world. The 92 hectares of vineyards are located on rocky hills at an altitude between 300 and 560 above see level. The company has always cultivated the most famous native vine of Tuscany, Sangiovese , but also experimenting with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot . The oenological team, that consistt of two winemakers, Lawrence Cronin and Pierre Seillan , brought great sensitivity to the production of the six wines produced. On one hand we find the Chianti Classico wines, which express their best in the Gran Selezione Strada al Sasso . On the other hand, Bordeaux blended wines, such as il Fauno by Arcanum, Valadorna and Arcanum , made from Cabernet Franc and the Merlot.
