Kerner 100%
TASTING NOTES
As a frost-resistant vine, Kerner is cultivated at the highest altitudes in the Vinschgau and Eisack valleys, between 550 and 800 metres above sea level on sunny, scree slopes. It is a cross between Schiava and Riesling and was named after the German poet Julius Kerner. The 2022 harvest in South Tyrol, as throughout Italy, will be remembered as one of the hottest and driest. Second in temperature only to that of 2015, it began, at least in this area, almost three weeks earlier. The grapes brought to the cellar are slightly smaller than in previous years, with a higher sugar content and decidedly warmer aromas. Fermentation and maturation are conducted in stainless steel tanks in order to maintain the varietal characteristics of these grapes. The colour is straw yellow with greenish highlights. The nose is intense, aromatic, with hints of peach and apricot, with spicy notes reminiscent of nutmeg. The taste is dry, full, savoury and fresh. With its qualities of fullness and aromaticity, it is an ideal companion for light appetisers, summer salads, asparagus or grilled fish, with a delicate cut or fresh cheese. It is ideal to accompany Thai dishes.
